About the School
ARUMS School of Nursing and Midwifery initiated its activity from 1993 in a shared building with the School of Medicine & Para medicine and the vice-chancellor’s office by accepting 46 students in bachelor’s degree program for nursing and associate’s degree program for midwifery. In 1995, the school began accepting students in tuition-based programs for nursing and midwifery. In 2005, the officials of the school managed to obtain permission for the acceptance of students in bachelor's degree program for midwifery and in the first semester of 2006-2007 academic year, the first group of students were accepted in this bachelor's degree program. In February 2006, the officials of the school achieved permission for accepting students in the field of medical emergencies and the first group of students in this major were accepted in the second semester of 2007-2008 academic year. Moreover, from October 2008, the academic field of operating room was separated from the school of medicine & par medicine and added to the list of the academic fields in the school of nursing and midwifery. From 2011, after the inauguration of the new building in the current location, the school was moved to this building. From February 2014, the school began the admission of students in master’s degree program for nursing. Furthermore, from October 2014, the school accepted students in master’s degree program for medical-surgical nursing. Also, from 2017, master’s degree program for emergency nursing was added to the study programs of the school. From 2019 the school accepted students in master's degree program for midwifery education. The plan of the school for the future is to attempt to gain permission to establish PhD degree program for nursing and other master’s degree programs such as Geriatricnursing, psychiatric nursing and physical activity nursing.
